In Almaty, they want to limit the height of residential buildings in areas above Abai to Al Farabi Ave. and Zhandosova St., from the Eastern Bypass Ring to Sain St.

In addition, the city plans to ban the construction of low-rise residential complexes on the slopes of the mountains.

“Last week Bakytzhan Abdirovich instructed to work out several very principled decisions on banning the construction of multi-apartment residential complexes on the slopes of mountains and limiting the number of floors between Abai and Al Farabi Avenues. (...) At the moment, a working group has been formed, which will prepare a package of documents for approving the number of floors and carrying out appropriate procedures. All residential complexes that have received permits with the current floors will be completed without the application of new requirements on the principle of "the law has no retroactive effect" — the Deputy Akim Mukhit Azirbayev says. 

The working group has a month to develop proposals.
